When a Dark Alley Becomes the Ultimate Game Mode
In 2021, Orbis Sports Canada partnered with Slack Alley Brewing in Penticton, British Columbia to create one of the most immersive and unforgettable events we've ever run: The Zombie Apocalypse.
The setting? A dark, fog-filled alley behind the brewery. The mission? Survive.
Players moved through the alley in teams, armed with Archery Tag bows, as waves of zombies emerged from the darkness at every turn. No two rounds were the same. Every corner held a surprise. Every shadow could be the next threat. The fog machine, the darkness, and the tight quarters turned a standard game of Archery Tag into a full-blown survival experience that had players screaming, laughing, and coming back for round after round.
The Event That Proved Anything Is a Battlefield
The Zombie Apocalypse at Slack Alley Brewing wasn't just a fun night out — it was proof of what makes Orbis Sports Canada different. We don't just show up with equipment. We design experiences.
By working with the team at Slack Alley Brewing to use their unique alley space, we created something that couldn't be replicated anywhere else. The narrow corridor, the brewery atmosphere, the fog rolling through the dark — it all came together to create a genuinely thrilling, cinematic experience for every participant.
"Waves of zombies came at you and your team as you made your way through the dark, foggy alley — a surprise around every turn."
About the Zombie Game Mode
The Zombie game mode is one of Orbis Sports Canada's most popular offerings — and the Penticton event showed exactly why.
Here's how it works:
- A small team of Zombies starts the round armed and on the hunt
- The Survivors must work together to eliminate zombies before being tagged out
- Tagged Survivors become Zombies — turning the tide with every elimination
- The round ends when all Survivors are turned, or the Zombies are wiped out
- Rounds are fast, chaotic, and endlessly replayable
In an environment like Slack Alley's fog-filled corridor, the Zombie mode takes on a whole new level of intensity. Limited sightlines, surprise encounters, and tight team coordination make every round feel like a scene from a movie.
Why Venue Partnerships Make Events Extraordinary
The Slack Alley Brewing collaboration is a perfect example of how Orbis Sports Canada approaches unique venue partnerships. We're not limited to parks and parking lots — if you have a space with character, we can turn it into an experience.
We've activated events at:
- Mountain resorts (Big White Ski Resort, BC)
- Brewery alleys (Slack Alley Brewing, Penticton, BC)
- City parks across Edmonton, Kelowna, and Vancouver Island
- School fields, backyards, and private venues
Every space tells a different story. We help you tell it.
